Nicholas Schnepper, 21, of Flowery Branch also has been charged with DUI, possession of marijuana and possession of an open container.

Authorities say the victim’s vehicle tried to make a U-turn just before noon on Buford Highway near Enterprise Drive, in the Buford area of Gwinnett County. Schnepper then hit the passenger side door of the victim’s vehicle.

The victim was flown to an area hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead at about 3 p.m. Authorities have not released the name of the man who died in the wreck because the family hasn’t been notified.

Authorities said alcohol does appear to be a factor in the wreck, and Schnepper could face additional charges as the investigation is ongoing.

He is currently is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County jail.
