FLOWERY BRANCH — City Council signed off Thursday night on an annexation request, clearing the way for Hollis Transport to expand its warehouse and gain greater access to sewer services.

The business is at 4515 Cantrell Road.

“This is in our sewer district and in order to access more (sewer services), he’ll need to annex,” said City Manager Bill Andrew during the first public reading of the ordinance last week.

It was also necessary to rezone the parcel to align it with the city’s regulations for trucking. The facility includes a food-grade warehouse and has among its customers Wrigley and King’s Hawaiian, a producer of bread and baked goods.

Andrew welcomed the business into the city limits.

“We’re glad to be a partner with them. A food-grade warehouse is good for them and good for the community.”
Hollis Transport, founded in 1979, underwent a 2009 expansion, adding 100,000 square feet. The building is constructed to strict food-grade standards and is climate-controlled. In 2010, the company added an additional 50,000 square feet.
