Both Florida and Georgia are again firing shots at each other in a 1-year-old water wars case before the U.S. Supreme Court. In briefs filed last week, the states responded to U.S. Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli’s Sept. 18 recommendation that justices reject the suit until the Army Corps of Engineers completes a document managing water in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin, which includes Lake Lanier. Basically, Georgia wants the court to refuse Florida’s lawsuit outright.
