Firefighters install smoke detectors in area where home burned

A stone’s throw from the Gainesville Fire Department’s headquarters on Queen City Parkway, family members rummaged Monday through the burned contents of their home. The house in the 700 block of Banks Street caught fire early Saturday morning, injuring 7-year-old Jeremiah Williams. Six adults and two other children escaped, some suffering smoke inhalation.
