Firefighters have extinguished a house fire just east of Gainesville, where all the occupants had already escaped, Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said.

The call came in just before 11 a.m. for the 2300 block of Fern Drive off Floyd Road east of Interstate 985.

Fire and smoke was coming from the corner of the 2,000-square-foot home when firefighters arrived, Kimbrell said.

Few other details were immediately available.
