Fired Gainesville school boss on Georgia charter school board

The state school board appointed former Gainesville schools Superintendent Steven Ballowe as one of seven members of the new Georgia Charter Schools Commission at its December board meeting.

After being fired as Gainesville superintendent July 3, Ballowe became principal of Glynn Academy High School in Southeast Georgia.

Gov. Sonny Perdue, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and House Speaker Glenn Richardson nominate the educators and businessman who serve on the charter schools board.
