Fire swept through a North Hall home Sunday morning, causing an estimated $35,000 in damage and displacing the man who lived there.

Hall County firefighters responded to the fire at 107 Gary St., off Cleveland Highway and north of Riverbend Elementary School, at 10:27 a.m., said Hall County fire Capt. Scott Cagle.

The 1,000-square-foot structure had "heavy fire showing" when firefighters arrived.

"Forced entry had to be made to enter the home," Cagle said.

The person living at the house, Tony Cohron, was not at home at the time.

Firefighters kept the fire damage to two rooms, but there was heat and smoke damage throughout the entire house, Cagle said.

The fire appears to be accidental but is still under investigation, he said.

Cohron "has lost all of his belongings except (for) some photographs and artwork firefighters saved," Cagle said.

Red Cross volunteers arrived to help with lodging, food and clothing, he added.
