Hall County firefighters on Thursday extinguished a blaze that caused "extensive damage" to the basement of a South Hall home.

An investigation has started to determine the cause of the fire in the 6400 block of South Creek Court, Fire Chief David Kimbrell said.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at 10:25 a.m. The upstairs areas of the area received smoke damage.
A caller initially reported the fire was in the basement of the home.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the basement of the 2,000-square-foot home, Kimbrell said.
