An Atlanta woman was charged with boating under the influence in a Sunday boating wreck in Forsyth County that injured a family of four.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources rangers charged Christina Jennings, 39, in the 9:35 p.m. incident in the Vann’s Tavern area of Lake Lanier.
She was the driver of a 24-foot Ebb Tide power boat. Her passenger was Joseph Korosee, 40, of Alpharetta.
A Cumming family aboard a 29-foot Bayliner cabin cruiser was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with injuries.
According to the DNR, Patricia Romeo, 41, and Robert N. Romeo, 21, suffered cuts and bruising. The boat’s driver, Robert A. Romeo, 41, suffered cuts to both legs, one of which was a deep laceration. And Sierra Romeo, 17, suffered a broken leg.
“It’s a miracle anyone lived (through) that,” said the older Robert Romeo on Monday evening from his home.
He declined to comment further at this time.
Neither Jennings nor Korosee were injured.
Jennings was released before 8 a.m. Monday on $2,750 bond from the Forsyth County jail. She couldn’t be reached for comment.
“The investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash,” DNR spokeswoman Melissa Cummings said. “Other charges are possible based on the outcome of the investigation.”
