A family of 7 was left homeless after this fire Sunday, May 19, on Willie Robinson Road in northwest Hall County.

A family of four adults and three children was left homeless after an early Sunday fire in northwest Hall County that also killed the family's pet dog.

A woman suffered minor burns on her leg and hand and was treated at the house in the 4700 block of Willie Robinson Road. She had refused being taken to the hospital, according to a Hall County Fire Services press release.

Responding to the fire about 3:45 a.m. May 19, firefighters found fire was burning in about half the 2,000-square-foot house, which is between Cool Springs Road and Ledan Extension.

The fire was put out in about one hour.

Fire officials said the family was alerted to the fire by smoke in the house, even though no smoke detectors were operational in the home, according to the fire department.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist the family.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined and is under investigation, Fire Services spokesman Zachary Brackett said.
