An additional 500 feet of Thompson Road will be closed as part of a Georgia Department of Transportation project to rebuild the road’s intersection at Ga. 53 in Dawson County. The extended closure “will allow us to change the grade of Thompson Road as it approaches Ga. 53 to improve sight distance and the overall safety of the intersection,” said Harold Mull, Georgia DOT district construction engineer. “This change will prevent motorists from cutting through the nearby parking lots of businesses.
