A benefit concert honoring Brian Ernst, a West Hall student who died from cancer one month ago, raised $7,200.

The event was organized by a team of Ernst supporters and Wild Wing employees including Lisa Copeland, Patrick Kelly, Rick Hall and Trish Hall.

“The money is for the family’s financial situation because of the medical bills — there is a very big need,” said Clint Copeland, whose son, Jake, was friends with Brian.

Ernst’s mother Donna Ernst has said she plans to donate some of the money to research.

“Of course we want to give back to a cure,” she said. “There’s a sarcoma foundation that’s already started through Emory through a friend of mine in Brian’s name.”

Donations can still be made at any Regions Bank branch.
