Faulty equipment led to a power outage that affected some 3,200 Georgia Power customers in Gainesville late Saturday and early Sunday.

The outage "traced back to a piece of equipment that didn't operate as it was supposed to," said John Kraft, Georgia Power spokesman, this afternoon.

It lasted from about 11:50 p.m. Saturday to about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Kraft said.

The affected area was the northern part of Gainesville along Thompson Bridge Road.
