The state Environmental Protection Division has given Flowery Branch 30 days to pay $500 to settle a discharge violation stemming from a Jan. 28 sewer spill.
City Manager Bill Andrew is set to discuss the matter at tonight’s Flowery Branch City Council meeting.
A grease blockage at a sewer line in a subdivision caused the spill of about 1,000 gallons, some of which poured into Flowery Branch Creek.
The spill occurred at a manhole about 150 yards from the Victoria Court cul-de-sac, Andrew said at the time.
The EPD sent the letter to the city on April 6, also requiring that the cause of the violation be corrected as part of the settlement.
The council meeting is set to start at 6 p.m., taking place at City Hall, 5517 Main St.
