Eight Hall County men were arrested Thursday for gambling after investigators found them betting on a dominoes game at Cans Pool Room in Gainesville.

The arrests followed a two-week undercover investigation of the pool room, located at 210 Atlanta Highway, and a search of the business by the Hall County Gang Task Force Thursday, according to a report from Lt. Scott Ware.

Police say the eight men, between the ages of 35 and 54, were paying cash to winners at the video poker machines and gambling on dominoes games in the pool room.

The men were sitting around a table playing what appeared to be a dominoes game when police searched the building, according to Ware.

Three of the men — Duc Van Dang Morrison, 49, of Oakwood; Tai Huu Ha, 53, of Gainesville; and Kim Huynh Phong, 35, of Gainesville — have been charged with keeping a gambling place.

Morrison, Ha, Phong and Can Van Hoan, 54, of Gainesville all were charged with commercial gambling. Commercial gambling is a felony in Georgia.

The other men were charged with misdemeanor gambling.

Authorities seized $13,616 from the video poker machines and from the men during the search, Ware said.
