A possibly intoxicated driver barrelled through the courtyard of the Hall County Courthouse on Wednesday.

At approximately 9 a.m., Gainesville Police responded to the courthouse parking deck to assist courthouse security with a driver who appeared to be intoxicated.

Courthouse security detained the driver after she drove the wrong way on Spring Street, driving between the barricades at the courthouse, then through the courtyard and exited onto Henry Ward Way after driving between two more barricades, Gainesville Police Lt. Carol Martin said.

The driver, identified as 56-year-old Diane Freeman, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol among other traffic charges. She was transported to the Hall County Detention Center.
