The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a $1.84 million contract for the replacement of traffic signals at 11 intersections along Jesse Jewell Parkway and Browns Bridge Road, or Ga. 369.

The DOT awarded the contract Friday to World Fiber Technologies of Alpharetta, said DOT spokeswoman Teri Pope.

The project also involves improving signal timing and pedestrian crossings, with the work extending from McEver Road to Barn Street. The work could begin in late spring, Pope said.

World Fiber will need about three months "to get (its) paperwork together and organize supplies, equipment and people," she said.

The project’s completion date is April 30, 2010.
