The Times and Document Destruction Services will combine for a document shredding event Friday to benefit Hall County Relay for Life.

The public is welcome to bring documents for shredding to The Times parking lot at 345 Green Street, Gainesville. There is a maximum of five boxes per person. Documents will be accepted 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

There is no charge for the service, but donations to Relay for Life will be accepted.

“We’re glad to be able to partner with Document Destruction Services again on this Relay for Life event. They do a great job and are very supportive of community events like Relay,” Times publisher Dennis Stockton said.

“We did this last year and had a great response. With all the concerns about identity theft, shredding personal and business documents just makes sense, and this is an easy way to get it done,” Stockton said.

The Times Relay for Life team also will be host to a community yard sale at The Times from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Residents interested in participating can rent a space for the event for $20, with proceeds from space rentals going to Relay. Participants will need to provide their own tables.

For more information or to reserve a space for the yard sale, call Dana Erwin or Melisa Sizemore at 770-532-1234.
