DNR prepares for Fourth of July boating

As local residents gear up for the Fourth of July, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources is preparing for intoxicated boaters. DNR’s Wildlife Resources division has announced that it will participate in Operation Dry Water this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Operation Dry Water is an initiative by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators in conjunction with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to increase visibility and enforcement of boating under the influence of drugs and alcohol the weekend before the Fourth of July, a holiday known for drinking and boating.The program started in 2009 and officers from all 56 U.S. states, trusts and territories are expected to participate this year.
