DNR may raise fee for state parks

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has proposed raising parking fees at Georgia’s state parks.

Currently, visitors at most of the 63 state parks and historic sites pay $3 per vehicle, or $30 for an annual pass.

If the change is approved, the per-vehicle price would be $5, and the annual pass would be $50.

There will be a public hearing on the proposal from 9 a.m. to noon April 6 in the DNR board room in Floyd Towers East in downtown Atlanta.

Public comments can also be submitted via e-mail to director@dnr.state.ga.us, or through the Web site www.georgiastateparks.org.

The deadline for comments is April 24. The DNR board is scheduled to vote on the proposal at its April 29 meeting.
