May 2008 marks the Freedom Garden at the Northeast Georgia History Center’s first anniversary.

To celebrate the occasion, the History Center’s Veterans’ Fund will contribute 25 percent of the cost to have a military veteran’s name engraved on an appropriate granite pillar.

Veterans who are honored have their name, highest rank attained, branch of service and years of service inscribed on granite pillars that are identified by a certain time period of military service. In addition there are family pillars, where two are more veterans, regardless of generations, are grouped under a family name.

The Freedom Garden was created, adjacent to the History Center, to honor all military veterans, whether they gave their life or offered their life while serving in America’s Armed Forces. For more information, call Julie Carson at 770-297-5900.
