A man robbed a downtown Dahlonega bank at gunpoint at about 5 p.m. Thursday. No one was injured in the bank, though a pregnant woman fell outside the bank, authorities said.
For part of the Thursday evening, authorities had portions of Ga. 60 blocked off and were searching for the suspect, described as a white male who entered the bank wearing a white shirt, baseball cap and sunglasses.
The robbery occurred at the Mountain State Bank on South Chestatee just off the Dahlonega square, Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Capt. Jason Stover said.
Stover said a pregnant female employee who was leaving the bank as the suspect entered lost her footing and fell while dialing 911. An ambulance was called for the woman, he said.
The robber pointed a handgun inside the bank, demanded cash and left with an unknown amount of money.
So far authorities have no description of a vehicle used in the robbery.
The robbery was captured on surveillance video, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office at 706-864-3633.
