Hall students compete at Math Mania

Twelve Hall County elementary schools took part in the 2017 Math Mania competition at Mount Vernon Exploratory School on March 4. The district competition was for students in first through fifth grades who had excelled in their school competitions.

“The best part of the day was seeing so many students excited about math. It was also very encouraging to see the high level of character and sportsmanship students displayed during the competition,” Mount Vernon Principal Jennifer Westbrook said. “Congratulations to all of the students who participated along with all of the parents, teachers and staff members who made this event a success.”

Grade-level winners were:

First grade: 1st, Andy Silverman, Flowery Branch; 2nd, Gage McKinnon, Sardis; 3rd, Brady Pless, Mount Vernon

Second grade: 1st, Cole Cable, Lanier; 2nd, Jake Ledford, Flowery Branch; 3rd, Denny Silverman, Flowery Branch

Third grade: 1st, Eli Ham, Lanier; 2nd, Blake Migalla, Sardis; 3rd, Sam Jennings, Spout Springs

Fourth grade: 1st, Aidan Voyles, Mount Vernon; tie-2nd, Matthew Morgan, Sardis; tie-2nd, Valiree Schmus, Lanier

Fifth grade: 1st, William Horn, Sardis; 2nd, Joshua Bull, Sardis; 3rd, Noah Peters, Lanier
