Lindsay Neece of Gainesville participated in the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps ship selection draft as a future member of the U.S. Navy’s Surface Warfare Office community.

The NROTC selects midshipmen ranked according to grade-point average, aptitude scores and physical fitness.

Ship selection is an important milestone for midshipmen as it determines where they start their Naval career.

Neece is assigned to the NROTC unit at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, where she is studying business administration. Upon graduation, Neece will receive a commission as a Navy Ensign and report aboard the Whidbey Island, the lead ship of Whidbey Island class of Dock Landing Ships, as a surface warfare officer.
