Gainesville was recognized during a state Arbor Day celebration on Feb. 17 at Trees Atlanta for being one of Georgia’s “Tree City USA” communities. The honor was to acknowledge Gainesville as one of 25 Ga. cities committed to caring for and managing their public trees. Trees City USA program is a nationwide movement that provides framework for communities to control and grow their public trees.
