Gainesville High School senior wins $2,500 Gus Whalen Scholarship

Gainesville High School senior Umer Khan is the winner of the Gus Whalen Communiversity Scholarship in the amount of $2,500. This is the second consecutive year that a GHS student has won the scholarship.

High school seniors from Gainesville High School, East Hall High School, and Lakeview Academy who are participating in the Featherbone Communiversity Academy are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

The scholarship requirements include the students submitting an essay regarding their future plans, how the scholarship would support their goals, and how they emulate Featherbone Communiversity’s ideals along with two references from an educator and community member.

The scholarship is in memory of Mr. Gus Whalen, founder of Featherbone Communiversity and Featherbone Leadership Academy.
