The Cresswind Veterans Club conducted a food drive in October, collecting hundreds of bags of food from throughout the Cresswind Community. The food is being donated to needy veterans.
The cans of food were furnished to the Disabled American Veterans who work with the Marine Corps League for warehousing; the DAV Auxiliary in turn distributes the food to needy veterans.
Additionally, the Cresswind Veterans Club also built large family-style food baskets for needy veteran families with potatoes, sweet potatoes, canned goods, dinner rolls, pies and a prepaid credit card for a turkey or ham. Home Depot donated the boxes.
These baskets will be distributed in turn to the veteran families by the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Georgia Department of Labor, which partners with the Cresswind Veterans Club for assistance with veterans seeking jobs. The club also provided canned goods to the State Court Veterans Court for distribution to needy veterans within their system.
