Adam Stumpf of Sautee has been awarded the 2017 UNG Military Scholarship. Stumpf accepted the four-year scholarship worth $70,000.

Each year, the state of Georgia offers 42 scholarships to Georgia high school seniors who attend UNG and plan to commission as officers in the Georgia Army National Guard after graduating with bachelor’s degrees. The scholarship pays for room, meals, tuition, books, uniforms and fees. In addition, recipients get National Guard weekend drill pay, GI Bill, pay for attending Army basic and advanced training, and, for those cadets offered a contract to commission as a lieutenant, Army ROTC contract pay at the beginning of sophomore or junior year.

To be eligible for the UNG Military Scholarship, applicants must be a legal resident of Georgia; receive a nomination from a Georgia legislator from their congressional district; meet the academic requirements and gain acceptance as a regular freshman cadet at UNG; meet Army National Guard enlistment standards; and agree to serve as an enlisted member in the Georgia Army National Guard while participating as a cadet at UNG.

The deadline for the UNG Military Scholarship for the 2018-2019 award year is Feb. 1, 2018.
