2 Northeast Georgia men inducted into Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame

Fifteen Georgia veterans, including two from Northeast Georgia, recently were inducted into the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame. • U.S. Army Col. Gerald Lord of Dahlonega for service in the Vietnam War • U.S. Army Col. John Day Mooneyham of Sautee Nacoochee for valor in the Vietnam War Of the 15 inductees, 10 were selected exclusively for valorous military performance, one for extraordinary achievements and four were selected by an independent board for their combined military/civilian service to our community, state and nation. The third annual Georgia Military Veterans’ Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet was held Nov. 7 in Columbus. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honor Georgia military veterans; to educate Georgia citizens, especially young Americans, of the sacrifices for freedom; and to inform the public of inductee's outstanding accomplishments.
