10 Gainesville High students nominated for Governors Honors Program

Ten Gainesville High School students were selected as Governor’s Honors Program nominees for Gainesville City Schools.

They are Boone Alexander, social studies; Thomas Alexander, mathematics; Guillermo Beltran, science; Sophia Casey, communicative arts; Daniel Cannon, communicative arts; David Davenport, social studies; Anna Diaz, dance; Sarah Hastings, visual arts; Ally Kimpling, theater; and Michelle Razo, communicative arts.

The district nominees will compete at the state level for an opportunity to attend the residential summer program for talented rising juniors and seniors.

Students must complete an online application and a task or performance related to their subject area. After submissions have been evaluated, a select number of students will interview at the state semifinals. Top finalists will be notified in March.

The program is held in June and July at Valdosta State University.
