Commerce special election canceled

The special election set for today in the city of Commerce has been canceled.

The election was to fill the vacant Ward IV seat on the city council, but only one candidate qualified to fill the seat previously held by Bob Sosebee, who resigned in March.

Commerce physician J. Clark Hill III was the only candidate to qualify and he was sworn into office Monday, according to city officials. Hill will serve the rest of Sosebee’s unexpired term, which ends in 2011.
