Clermont voters are invited to check out who’s running for office in town during a candidates’ forum Oct. 24.

Candidates from two contested races — including a challenger to  incumbent Mayor James Nix — will face voters’ scrutiny during the forum at the Clermont Chattahoochee Center at 639 Main St. The event begins at 7 p.m.

Nix, the town’s longtime leader, is being challenged by Steve Reeves, whose son Albert was elected to Clermont Town Council 10 years ago and served one term. Albert Reeves is now contending for a seat on Gainesville City Council.

Steve Reeves’ wife, Donna Reeves, is challenging James Castleberry for the Ward 4 council seat.

Clermont Town Clerk Sandra Helton said the event moderator will ask the candidates questions submitted by the audience.

“Basically, the audience writes down their questions on note cards when coming in and the moderator uses the cards to question candidates,” Helton said.

Election Day is Nov. 7.
