Hall County school officials displayed a proposed map of the new Board of Education districts at Monday night's meeting, primarily to determine if anyone wanted to offer public comment.
No one from the audience commented or asked questions.
The school system is retweaking boundaries of the board members' districts based on the 2010 U.S. census.
The board has members representing South, North, West and East Hall, and a fifth member is elected countywide.
"We're fortunate that, in our particular school district, everybody runs countywide, so (a new map) is much less of an issue than it might be in other areas where people run districtwide," Superintendent Will Schofield said.
He added that he doesn't foresee any issues as the map moves along in the Georgia legislature, where lawmakers will give their final OK.
School board member Craig Herrington also noted the new map has no effect on school attendance boundaries.
A time to celebrate reading
Friday is Read Across America Day, a celebration that occurs each year on or near the March 2 birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss.
The event was started by the National Education Association and is celebrated across the country.
The day is generally marked in Hall County by - you guessed it, lots of reading, including guests reading stories to local children.
This year, Sen. Butch Miller will be one of those guests, reading to children on Friday at Lyman Hall Elementary School.
