Residents in the Longstreet Hills subdivision might have had muddy water when they turned on their taps Friday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., a water main broke on Glenwood Drive, according to the Gainesville Public Utilities Department.

The utilities department was able to fix the broken line and restore water to customers in the Longstreet Hills subdivision in about three hours, said Kelly Randall, director of the public utilities department.

Randall advised water customers in the area who continue to experience cloudy water over the weekend to call the department’s after-hours number 770-535-6877.
