Children can get helmets this Saturday during a giveaway at Interactive Neighborhood for Kids in Gainesville.
The event, put on in coordination with Safe Kids Gainesville/Hall County, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the facility at 999 Chestnut St.
Free helmets will be available to children ages 5 to 14 on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be present for a fitting and can get just one helmet.
Helmets reduce the risk of head injury by at least 45 percent, according to a news release from Safe Kids.
