Elton Maddox, of Wayne Farms in Oakwood, was elected chairman of the board of directors of the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association.
The board meeting was held during the International Poultry Expo, part of the 2014 International Production & Processing Expo. He previously served as vice chairman. Maddox was presented with the “working man’s gavel” by the 2013 chairman, James Adams of Wenger Feeds.
A native of Georgia, Maddox received his Bachelor of Science in engineering from the University of Georgia. He joined Wayne Farms in 1974 and has worked in a number of management positions.
He is currently president and CEO of Wayne Farms. In addition, he is a past chairman of the National Chicken Council and the Georgia Improvement Association and a past president of the Georgia Poultry Federation and the Georgia Poultry Processors Federation. He has served on the USPOULTRY board of directors since 2007.
