Wood joins Lakeside OB/GYN

Karen B. Wood has joined Northeast Georgia Physicians Group’s Lakeside OB/GYN practice.

Wood received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed her residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. She is board eligible in obstetrics and gynecology.

“I am very excited to join NGPG Lakeside OB/GYN and perform deliveries at the lovely Women and Children’s Pavilion of Georgia’s No. 1 women’s hospital — Northeast Georgia Medical Center,” Wood said. “I also look forward to seeing patients in Braselton at Medical Plaza 1, on the campus of the new NGMC Braselton that’s opening in spring 2015.”

Wood sees patients at all NGPG Lakeside OB/GYN locations in Braselton, Dahlonega, Dawsonville and Gainesville.

Vascular & Vein Specialists earns accreditation

The Longstreet Clinic’s Vascular & Vein Specialists practice in Gainesville is now an Intersocietal Accreditation Commission-accredited Vein Center.

This recognition for superficial venous treatment and management means Vascular & Vein Specialists has voluntarily undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. IAC grants accreditation only to facilities found to be providing quality patient care in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including a detailed review of selected patient procedures.

“While we have always prided ourselves on providing top-quality vascular and vein care to our patients, we are proud that care has been recognized by the IAC, making Vascular & Vein Specialists the only accredited vein center in Georgia and only one of 14 centers in the United States,” said vascular surgeon Dan Procter.

Procter, along with Drs. Dev Mangalat and Suman Annambhotla, bring more than 40 years of combined experience in the treatment of venous conditions to Vascular & Vein Specialists.
