Whitworth to head Times’ distribution

The Times has created a revamped Department of Packaging and Distribution that will incorporate tasks now performed by the newspaper’s circulation department and mailroom.

The mailroom is responsible for packaging of newspapers, advertising supplements and other printed products for distribution; the circulation department handles actual distribution of the printed products.

Scott Whitworth has been promoted from his position as director of the mailroom to the new position as director of packaging and distribution. Whitworth has been at The Times for more than 25 years.

“Scott has been with The Times a long time and is very familiar with our operation and what is involved in getting our printed products into the hands of our readers. He also understands the importance of quality customer service, which will be a top priority for the new department,” said Norman Baggs, general manager of The Times.

The immediate goals for the new department are to improve customer service and streamline operations, Baggs said.
Whitworth is a native of Hall County and a graduate of North Hall High School. He has been employed at The Times since October 1988.
