Medical Center rated No. 1 in state, No. 2 in nation in overall care

Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville has been rated No. 2 in the nation in Overall Hospital Care, as well as No. 1 in Georgia.

CareChex, an independent health care quality rating service, includes virtually all general, acute, nonfederal U.S. hospitals and measures them across several categories including quality of medical care, outcomes of care and patient satisfaction.

“To be named one of the top three hospitals in the nation, between other industry icons like Mayo Clinic’s flagship campus in Rochester, Minn., and University of Michigan Health System, is quite an honor,” says Carol Burrell, president and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System.

The CareChex study rated NGMC No. 1 in Georgia for Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care and Overall Surgical Care, thus earning the distinction of Georgia’s No. 1 hospital. The study also rated NGMC as the state’s No. 1 Surgery Hospital, No. 1 Heart Hospital, No. 1 Orthopedic Surgery Hospital, No. 1 Vascular Surgery Hospital, No. 1 Women’s Hospital, No. 1 Neurological Hospital and No. 1 Pulmonary Hospital.
