2 employees promoted at Rushton & Co.

Gainesville-based Rushton & Co., one of the region’s largest business accounting and consulting firms, has promoted David Conley and Samuel Latimer to audit managers.

As audit managers, Conley and Latimer will oversee audits for government, nonprofit and business operations, including client relations and development of internal policies.

Latimer specializes in auditing of government, manufacturing, construction and nonprofit entities. Conley focuses on government, manufacturing, construction and nonprofit audits.

Conley joined Rushton & Co. in 2006 and became certified public accountant in 2009. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Brenau University and a bachelor’s in accounting from Piedmont College.

Latimer joined Rushton & Co. in 2012. The University of North Florida graduate has served as president of the Northeast Georgia Chapter of the Georgia Society of CPAs and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He is currently president of the Gainesville Jaycees.

UCB honors Cleveland’s Burkett

Jay Burkett of Cleveland has been named a Sales and
Service Champion for the third quarter by Blairsville-based United Community Bank.

Burkett, who also works throughout North Georgia in Gainesville, Murrayville and Oakwood, was named top financial adviser. Top-performing individuals were honored Jan. 22 at a Sales and Service Award luncheon.
