LongHorn partner joins company’s Diamond Club

Santos Ochoa-Aleman, managing partner of the LongHorn Steakhouse in Gainesville, has attained the company’s Diamond Club status.

He is one of 22 managers selected from the more than 480 LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants in North America.

The top-performing managing partners were recognized for their commitment to delivering guest experiences at the highest level, while making a difference in the lives of guests, employees and in their community, according to a news release from the company.

The Gainesville LongHorn Steakhouse is located at 1709 Browns Bridge Road.

5 Gainesville attorneys to join State Bar committees

Five Gainesville attorneys have been appointed as members of various standing, special and program committees of the 47,000-member State Bar of Georgia for 2015-16.

Mark W. Alexander of Stewart, Melvin & Frost LLP was named as vice chair of the Long-Range Planning & Bar Governance Committee, which identifies issues and trends affecting the practice of law to ensure the ongoing efficiency of the State Bar’s operations.

J. Douglas Stewart of Stewart, Melvin & Frost LLP was appointed to the Bar Center Committee, which monitors the Bar’s needs and uses of its headquarters facility in Atlanta.

M. Tyler Smith of Smith, Gilliam, Williams & Miles P.A. was selected for the Business Court Committee, which monitors the performance of Georgia’s Business Court pilot project.

John G. Breakfield of Breakfield & Associates LLC will serve on the Law School Outreach Committee, which communicates with students at Georgia’s law schools regarding the resources and opportunities provided by the State Bar to help them embark on their professional careers.

Nicki Noel Vaughan of the Northeastern Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office was named to the Programs Committee, which advises the State Bar’s Executive Committee with respect to the addition, deletion, change and operation of all State Bar programs and services. Vaughan is also Executive Committee liaison to the Children and the Courts Committee, the Indigent Defense Committee and the Local & Voluntary Bars Committee.

Sims fills new position at Fockele Garden Co.

Gainesville’s Fockele Garden Company has named Jacob Sims to its newly-created position of maintenance operations manager.

Sims will oversee all daily operations in the maintenance department.

He worked eight months with the company before his promotion.
