Veteran car dealership Atlanta Automotive Group has moved to Gainesville.
On Oct. 5, it opened Cadillac and Mazda of Lake Lanier at 2355 Browns Bridge Road.
“I’ve been coming in and out of this area for a long time, and I always thought it was such a nice area,” said Marty Pecora, owner of the dealership. “We are looking forward to being part of the community.”
The new location has more than 500 available new or used cars and sells Mazdas, Cadillacs, limousines, funeral cars and armored cars.
Prices range from $5,000 for a preowned vehicle up to $89,000 for a premium Cadillac.
The location was formerly Moss Robertson Cadillac Mazda, and Pecora plans to do more than just change the sign.
“We’ll be renovating and expanding the facilities with all-new equipment,” he said. “It really is a renaissance, a rebirth.”
In addition to maintenance, the dealership offers roadside assistance and recently bought a flatbed truck to help customers who experience car trouble.
Atlanta Automotive Group is a family-owned business with roots that go back to 1928. Pecora grew up in the automotive sales industry and has operated dealerships in New Jersey, New York and Kentucky.
Along with his wife, he sold his other locations and decided to move to Gainesville.
“It was just a great experience coming here,” he said. “I thought nothing but positive things about the area.”
In early 2014, Cadillac will roll out its entirely electrically powered car, the ELR, which Pecora said he thinks will be a popular choice among Georgians looking to save money on gas.
“It’s a 300-horsepower vehicle that recharges itself; I think it will sell across the U.S.,” he said. “And the federal government is giving $7,500 in tax credits.
“There is going to be a lot of perks with it.”
