Mihretu joins hospitalist program at Longstreet
The Longstreet Clinic has announced that Taffere N. Mihretu, M.D., has joined Northeast Georgia Inpatient Services' hospitalist program.

Mihretu received both his bachelor's and medical degrees from Addis Ababa University. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Atlanta Medical Center. He is an associate of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine.

Inpatient physicians, or "hospitalists," focus on caring for hospitalized patients by dedicating their practice to the hospital. Hospitalists ensure continuity of care as they consult with specialists, discuss diagnostic test results and answer questions about patient care.

Northeast Georgia Inpatient Services currently employs 19 physicians and three nurse practitioners.

DePriest joins Village Nursing Care in human resources
Nancy DePriest has joined Village Nursing Care as its human resources contact, receptionist and LPN.
DePriest's responsibilities include screening job applicants and maintaining employee files.

She has 16 years experience as an LPN, working primarily in geriatrics and psychiatric geriatrics. DePriest worked for eight years at the Mississippi State Hospital and for eight years as a home health LPN in North Carolina.

DePriest earned an associate degree in nursing from Pearl River Community College and attended the University of Southern Mississippi.

Based in Gainesville, Village Nursing Care Inc. is a licensed private home care provider in 13 Northeast Georgia counties.

Moose new assistant controller for Avian Technology
Jamie Moose has joined the staff of Avian Technology. She has seven years experience in accounting and will assist the controller in day-to-day accounting functions and will also prepare weekly and monthly financial reports.

Prior to joining Avian Technology, the North Georgia Technical College graduate was controller for a company that dealt with construction, manufacturing, property management and logistics. She also managed the financial and accounting operations for the company's logistics division's government contracts.

Moose and her husband, Stacey, attend Welcome Worship Center.

Primrose School earns agencies' seal of approval
The Primrose School of Gainesville at 2171 Sandridge Court has received accreditation from the Commission on International Trans-Regional Accreditation and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement.

"We are thrilled to receive the stamp of approval from such prestigious agencies as CITA/SACS CASI," said Jenifer McKnight, owner of the Primrose School of Gainesville. "This is just another achievement of excellence for our school, and gives parents in Gainesville an additional vote of confidence. When their children attend the Primrose School of Gainesville, parents know they are in a place that has met the highest standards for innovative programs that foster physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth."

To receive CITA SACS CASI accreditation, a school must meet stringent standards for teacher training, curriculum and safety. Agency facilitators and a team of educators visit the school and carefully examine every element, including teacher training, actual daily schedules and lesson plans, and proof that safety measures are being carried out throughout the day.

Carla Boling earns Pilates certification
Carla Boling, owner of Core Design Pilates, was granted certification as a Power Pilates System 3 Instructor on Nov. 10. A Power Pilates System 3 certification incorporates advanced knowledge and principles of Pilates exercises based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates.

Animal Medical Care receives AAHA accreditation
Animal Medical Care of Gainesville has received accreditation following a comprehensive evaluation by the American Animal Hospital Association. The evaluation includes a quality assessment review of the hospital's facility, medical equipment, practice methods, and pet health care management.

The Gainesville practice includes veterinarians Denise Funk, Chris Potter and John Sundstrom. In order to maintain accredited status, Animal Medical Care must pass repeat inspections every two to three years by the association's consultants.
