Hall resident Wilson to head communications at new state health agency
Hall County resident Thomas C. Wilson has been named communications director and press secretary for Georgia's new Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
The new department, which began operations last week, is the state's lead agency on policy and programs for mental health, addictive diseases, and developmental disabilities.
Wilson rejoins the state after serving in the Office of Public Affairs at the University of Georgia. He was previously deputy communications director for the Georgia Department of Human Resources. His 11 years experience in communications includes serving as a gubernatorial speechwriter and a grassroots media strategist.
He earned a M.A. in political management from George Washington University and a B.A. from the University of Alabama. He and his wife live in Hall County.

Rebekah Galyean has received her certified public accountant certification.
Rebekah joined Bates, Carter & Co. in June, 2007 as a staff accountant in the firm's government audit department where she focuses on government and not-for-profit audits.
In 2002, she earned her bachelor of science degree with a major in criminal justice and a minor in computer science from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. She received an MBA in accounting from Brenau University in May 2008, and was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Satterfield receives Edward Jones award
Edward Jones financial adviser Reneigh Satterfield of Gainesville has received the Jack Phelan Award for her outstanding sales and service efforts over the past year.
"When you work for a firm that is known for its outstanding service," Satterfield said, "it's quite an honor to be singled out for your service record."
Only 3,229 of the firm's more than 12,000 financial advisors received the Jack Phelan award.
