McLeod, CEO of parent company of Sterling on Lake, is honored
Bob McLeod, president and CEO of Newland, was honored with the 12th annual Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Award tomorrow Thursday at the National Association of Home Builders International Builders' Show in Orlando.
Newland is the nation's largest privately held land development company and parent developer of Sterling on the Lake, a 1,000-acre community in Flowery Branch.
"Receiving the 12th Annual Hearthstone BUILDER award represents the dedication of our team members in communities across the country, such as Sterling on the Lake, which lend their time, compassion and expertise to helping neighbors in need and strengthening communities," McLeod said.
Last fall at its first Harvest Balloon Festival, Sterling on the Lake raised $22,500 for The National Military Family Association, which provides support to military families, and Challenged Child and Friends, serving children with disabilities. These nonprofits were presented the contribution in December.
Since breaking ground in 2004, Sterling on the Lake has raised or donated a total of nearly $100,000 for its community partners, which also include Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Camp Sunshine, HomeAid, United Way, Hall County Public Schools, My Sister's Place and Project Joy.
"Bob McLeod has set such an example for all of our communities nationwide - namely, that community has deep meaning for Newland and for him personally - and he's truly been an inspiration to our team members," said Patrick Clark, VP/general manager for Newland Southeast.
"Sterling on the Lake is committed to supporting people in need in and around our community and we're pleased we were able to raise the funds and awareness we did last year for our nonprofit partners."
