Kelly joins Northeast Georgia Physicians Group in Oakwood
Robert Kelly, M.D. has joined the practice of Northeast Georgia Physicians Group, 3931 Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood, an affiliate of Northeast Georgia Health System.

Kelly received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama in Huntsville's School of Primary Care Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.

Most recently, Kelly practiced at Duluth Family Medicine.

"I'm excited about serving the South Hall community and my family is excited about becoming part of such a rapidly growing area," Kelly said.

He and his wife, Theresa, have four children.

Corso named rising star by magazine
Gainesville Attorney Arturo Corso has been named by Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the top criminal defense attorneys for 2009.

As a practicing attorney under age 40, he received the additional distinction of also being named a "Rising Star." Corso's selection will be featured in the March issue of Atlanta Magazine.

The selections are made by Law & Politics, a division of Key Professional Media. Each year, Law & Politics undertakes a multiphase selection process that includes statewide surveys of lawyers in all 50 states, independent evaluation of candidates by the attorney-led research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area and a good-standing and disciplinary check.

Corso is the founding partner of Corso, Kennedy & Campbell, LLP in Gainesville. He began his career in Boston as a VISTA AmeriCorps lawyer and then returned to his native Georgia to serve as an assistant district attorney in Gainesville.

For the last eight years, Corso has concentrated almost exclusively in criminal defense.

Longstreet docs Garlich, Saujani earn OB/GYN board certification
The Longstreet Clinic has announced that two of its physicians recently were certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Caro "Cricket" Garlich joined the Center for Women's Health at The Longstreet Clinic in 2007. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and completed her residency at Washington Hospital Center.

Dr. Keshma Saujani joined the practice in 2006. She is a graduate of St. George's University School of Medicine and completed her residency at State University of New York.

The Center for Women's Health has 13 physicians including a perinatologist, 10 certified nurse midwives and two nurse practitioners.

Brown named professional of the year at Georgia insurance conference
Linda B Brown has been named Insurance Professional of the Year by the Georgia Council of the National Association of Insurance Women International at their annual conference.

Brown was also elected Georgia Council Director for the 2009-2010 term. She is a charter member of Insurance Professionals of Gainesville and is personal lines manager of BB&T Sidney O. Smith Insurance.

Weaver honored for service to government records association
The Georgia Records Association has honored Judy Weaver for her service as association treasurer.
Weaver, the Gainesville Police Department's records manager, has been a member of the association since 1998 and for the past 10 years has served as its treasurer. She has been with the Gainesville Police Department for 20 years.

Association president Adrian Woods, along with other association members, presented Weaver with the award.

The Georgia Records Association is a professional organization dedicated to establishing responsible records management practices throughout local and state government.

Menk named banking division manager for Wells Fargo
Paul Menk, a veteran Wachovia banker, has been named Greater Georgia business banking division manager for Wells Fargo Community Banking.

He is responsible for small business and business banking in all Georgia cities and markets outside of metro Atlanta, including Gainesville.

Menk previously was regional president for Wachovia's Greater Georgia region and has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. In his new role, Menk will continue to lead the bank's outreach to middle market businesses throughout Greater Georgia.

An Augusta native, Menk serves on the boards of the Georgia Allies and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech where he earned a bachelor's degree in industrial management.
