Highsmith joins Junior Achievement of Georgia as new executive director

Gainesville's Lee D. Highsmith has been named the executive director of the Northeast District for Junior Achievement of Georgia.

Highsmith graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in education and taught in both public and private schools, and later served on the Gainesville school board for 12 years. She has worked in the nonprofit sector for nine years and has ran a small business.

A native of Atlanta, Highsmith lives in Gainesville with her husband, Bucky, and their five children.

The Northeast District office for Junior Achievement of Georgia has re-located to 324 Brenau Ave. in Gainesville, the new offices courtesy of Regions Bank.

Junior Achievement's Northeast District covers 14 counties, including Hall, Clarke, Habersham and Lumpkin. Last year, the Northeast District served 7,900 students.

Chitwood named senior administrator for Edward Jones branch in Gainesville

Pam Chitwood has been promoted to senior branch office administrator at the Gainesville/Desiree Goodbar branch office of financial services firm Edward Jones.

Pam has been with Edward Jones the past 4½ years.

To be named a senior branch office administrator, an individual must meet specific training requirements, demonstrate exceptional performance when completing office responsibilities, handle the complex tasks associated with running a high-volume office and typically must have at least five years' experience with the firm.

Chitwood and Financial Advisor Goodbar recently were ranked within the top 25 percent of the country for excellence in client service at Edward Jones. This honor was the result of a survey in which clients were asked to rank the service they received from the Edward Jones staff.
