Shepherd joins Buckhead Investment Partners
John R. Shepherd of Gainesville has been named and investment advisor by Buckhead Investment Partners, an Atlanta-based registered investment advisor.
Shepherd will provide financial planning and investment services to residents of the region, using the extensive resources and expertise of the firm.
"John has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. We're excited to have a seasoned professional representing us full-time in the Gainesville area," said Bill Harris, managing partner.
Buckhead Investment Partners has more than $70 million under management, which is represented by 50 families and small businesses. Areas of focus include investment management, financial planning and direct investments in private businesses.
"I'm delighted to be able to bring the resources of one of Atlanta's most trusted wealth management firms to Gainesville area residents," Shepherd said.
He and his wife, Kay, have lived in Gainesville for 17 years. Their three children and five grandchildren all live in the Atlanta area.
Kilroy joins Willis Investment Counsel
James "Jay" Kilroy has joined Willis Investment Counsel as its newest principal, where his responsibilities will include equity securities analysis and portfolio management.
Kilroy, a financial analyst with a background in investment banking, portfolio management and strategic management, comes to Willis from Abingdon Capital Management in McLean, Va.
His seven-year tenure at Abingdon was preceded by two years as an equity research associate at Bear, Stearns & Co. in New York, and four years as an associate in the corporate finance division of SunTrust Equitable Securities in Atlanta.
"As a securities analyst with significant portfolio management responsibilities, Jay adds substantial experience, breadth, and depth to our investment process," said Bob Pennington, Willis' CEO.
Kilroy holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Yilma earns certification in psychiatry, neurology
Dr. Mimi Yilma of Psychiatry and Psychological Associates of Gainesville has been certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Yilma joined the practice in 2008. She is a graduate of Howard College School of Medicine in Washington and completed her residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington. Before joining Psychiatry and Psychological Associates, Yilma practiced psychiatry in Baltimore, where she treated adults with mental illnesses including depression, anxiety, bipolar schizophrenia and dual diagnosis patients.
Medical staff officers named at Northeast Georgia Medical Center
The medical staff officers for 2009 have been elected at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
R. Philip Marler M.D. will serve as chief of staff. Marler practices internal medicine with The Longstreet Clinic and has been on staff since 1992.
Timothy A. Scully M.D. will be vice chief of staff. He is a cardiologist with Northeast Georgia Heart Center and has been on staff since 1991.
