Wal-Mart has opened a temporary hiring center in Cleveland to hire 250 people to staff a new store opening there this summer.

The temporary hiring center at 28 Industrial Blvd., Suite 104 in Cleveland opened Monday. Applications will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Applications will be accepted for a half day on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon.

The store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates, according to store manager Barry Killian.

"We are excited to add this Wal-Mart to Cleveland and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area," he said.

Killian began his Wal-Mart career in 1991 as a truck unloader in Murphy, N.C.

Killian said associates are needed to work in all areas of the new store, including supervisory positions.

The majority of associates will begin work in June to help prepare the store for its grand opening in the summer.

Wal-Mart offers a range of benefits to eligible full- and part-time associates, including health care insurance with no lifetime maximum.

Wal-Mart also offers a 401(k) plan and profit-sharing contributions, whether an eligible associate contributes or not, store discount cards, stock purchase program and life insurance.

Additionally, associates are eligible for company performance-based bonuses.
