A "Round-Up" program at the J.C. Penney at Lakeshore Mall has generated funds for afterschool programming at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County, a J.C. Penney Afterschool Fund partner.

For 10 days in April, customers were invited to "round-up" their purchases to the nearest whole dollar and donate the difference to the fund, a public charity that provides at-risk children access to life-enriching afterschool programs that inspire children to be smart, strong and socially responsible.

"The J.C. Penney Afterschool Fund has helped provide us with the resources we need to help the youth who need us the most," said Joe Ethier of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County. "Our clubs address the most critical issues facing our youth by providing programming targeted toward: Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship and Health Lifestyles."

The clubs serve over 360 members, ages 6 to 18 every day, including 83 percent who come from economically disadvantaged circumstances.

South Hall Coalition meeting set for May 19
The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce South Hall Business Coalition will meet May 19 at Medical Plaza 1 at River Place, 5875 Thompson Mill Road in Hoschton.

The program begins at 8:15 a.m. and includes an update on the South Hall hospital campus.

Northeast Georgia Health System is host to the event, which includes tours of the Medical Plaza 1 facility and its various medical suites. The plaza features an urgent care center, imaging center and dozens of physicians in a variety of specialties.
Held monthly, South Hall Business Coalition programs give area business professionals in the area the opportunity to meet on important issues and network before work hours.
